HPNLU Hosts Capacity Building Programme for Young Women in Technology and Leadership

Shimla, May 22, 2024 — The Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU) in collaboration with the National Commission for Women, New Delhi, conducted a One-Day Capacity Building Programme titled “Rise and Lead: Young Women Pioneering in Technology, Business, and Public Life” at the university campus. The event saw the participation of over 300 young women, including undergraduate, postgraduate students, and research scholars.

The programme featured expert panelists such as Prof. (Dr.) Chanchal Kr. Singh, Vice Chancellor (Officiating), HPNLU; Ms. Meenakshi Negi, Member Secretary, National Commission of Women; Dr. Parimala Kancharla, Assistant Professor at IIT Mandi; Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Sharma from Panjab University; and Ms. Geeta Kapoor, Former Managing Director of SJVN.

In his presidential address, Prof. (Dr.) Chanchal Kr. Singh emphasized the importance of empowering young women by reviving feminist principles in legal, economic, and political systems. Ms. Meenakshi Negi highlighted the need for effective enforcement of laws to truly empower women.

Dr. Parimala Kancharla discussed emerging opportunities in AI and drone technology, stressing the importance of women’s participation in these fields. Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Sharma spoke about women’s leadership in public life, noting improvements due to government policies. Ms. Geeta Kapoor shared her experiences in the corporate world, emphasizing the importance of self-belief.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. (Dr.) S.S. Jaswal, Registrar, HPNLU, who expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers for their contributions to the programme.
