Himachal Schools Shine Nationally in Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025

Shimla, June 11: Himachal Pradesh has achieved remarkable success in the prestigious Viksit Bharat Buildathon (VBB) 2025, with three schools securing places among the country’s Top 100 state-level winners and 20 schools making it to the national Top 1000 district-level winners.
Organised by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with NITI Aayog’s Atal Innssion and AICTE, the nationwide innovation challenge encouraged students to develop practical solutions to real-world problems under the theme “Call for a Self-Reliant India, Building a Developed India.”
At the state level, PM SHRI GMGSSS Chamba and GSSS Dharampur (Solan) were recognized in the Prototype category, while Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Theog (Shimla), earned honours in the Idea category. The three schools will collectively receive prize money of ₹60,000.
Himachal also secured a strong presence at the district level, with 20 schools from across the state featuring among the country’s Top 1000 winners. These schools represented diverse regions including Shimla, Solan, Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Hamirpur, Kullu, Una, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti. The district-level winners will receive a total prize amount of ₹1.52 lakh.
More than 2.87 lakh projects were submitted nationwide through the competition, involving over five crore students from three lakh schools. Projects were evaluated on innovation, practicality, scalability, social impact and alignment with national priorities.
Congratulating the students and teachers, Samagra Shiksha Director Rajesh Sharma said the achievement reflects Himachal Pradesh’s growing culture of innovation, scientific thinking and problem-solving education. He expressed confidence that the success would inspire more students to develop creative solutions and contribute to nation-building through innovation.
