Himachal School Education Reforms Gain Momentum Through Global Partnerships

Shimla: Principals of PM SHRI schools and coordinators of Samagra Shiksha felicitated State Project Director Rajesh Sharma at the Samagra Shiksha Directorate, acknowledging his leadership in implementing education reforms and initiatives across Himachal Pradesh.

The principals highlighted key initiatives including international exposure programmes for government school teachers in Singapore, collaboration with the Principals Academy, Singapore, and training of 33,301 teachers in partnership with the University of Cambridge.

Under the HP FUTURES programme, Samagra Shiksha has partnered with UNESCO to promote competency-based education, value education and greening education, with a focus on developing 21st-century skills among students. Training programmes for school leaders and teachers have also been initiated in collaboration with IIM Sirmaur.

A total of 199 schools have been developed as PM SHRI schools, equipped with modern infrastructure, smart classrooms, science and ICT laboratories and Atal Tinkering Labs.

The principals also highlighted international educational exposure for meritorious government school students through visits to Singapore and Cambodia. They said these initiatives, along with effective utilisation of Samagra Shiksha funds, have contributed to improvements reflected in national assessments, including PARAKH and the Performance Grading Index.

Rajesh Sharma expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Education Minister, Education Department officials, coordinators, principals and teachers, stating that the reforms are the result of collective efforts to strengthen school education in the state.
