Shimla, June 10: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has reiterated the state government’s commitment to promoting ease of doing business and improving public service delivery through digitisation and administrative reforms.

Chairing a review meeting of the Labour and Employment Department, the Chief Minister directed officials to fully digitise and bring online all departmental services, including certificates and licences, to ensure greater convenience and transparency for citizens.

Sukhu said that under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarozgar Start-Up Yojana 2023, the government is providing a 50 percent subsidy for the purchase of e-taxis. During the 2026-27 financial year, an additional 500 youth will receive the benefit, with a budget allocation of ₹50 crore. He also announced that 500 young beneficiaries will be provided a 50 percent capital subsidy through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for purchasing e-rickshaws, promoting both self-employment and eco-friendly transport.

The Chief Minister said the government has amended the Himachal Pradesh Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1969, and related rules to encourage trade and industry. Under the revised provisions, shops and commercial establishments across the state will be allowed to operate 24 hours a day, a move expected to boost business activity, support entrepreneurs and enhance consumer convenience.

He emphasized that while simplifying compliance systems and strengthening the business environment, the government remains equally committed to safeguarding workers’ rights and welfare.

Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, Chief Secretary K.K. Pant and other senior officials attended the meeting.
