Himachal Among India's Leading Educated States: Dr Dhaniram Shandil

District Resource Room Inaugurated at DIET Solan

Solan | July 30, 2026: Health & Family Welfare, Social Justice & Empowerment, and Sainik Welfare Minister Col. Dr Dhaniram Shandil said Himachal Pradesh is among the country’s leading educated states and continues to achieve new milestones in the quality of education. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the District Resource Room at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Solan.

The Minister inaugurated the District Resource Room, established at a cost of ₹45 lakh to provide technology-enabled education for children with disabilities.

Dr Shandil said recent reforms in the education sector have enabled Himachal Pradesh to make significant progress in national education performance rankings, placing the state among the top performers in the country. He added that several important initiatives have been implemented to ensure quality education, and their positive impact is now clearly visible.

He said the state government has launched a phased implementation of the CBSE curriculum in government schools to provide students with modern and high-quality education. The initiative will help students prepare better for national-level competitive opportunities, while specialised training and selection of teachers is also being carried out.

Expressing confidence in the ongoing reforms and investments in education, Dr Shandil said Himachal Pradesh would further strengthen its position as one of India’s leading education systems in the coming years.

During the programme, Deputy Director of Education (Quality) Rajendra Verma welcomed the chief guest and highlighted issues concerning DIET, while DIET Principal Geetanjali Kashyap delivered the vote of thanks.

Trainees of DIET presented a cultural programme on the occasion. Appreciating their performance, Dr Shandil announced a grant of ₹31,000 from his discretionary fund for the participating students.
