Hamirpur Crosses 50% HPV Vaccination Target, 1,525 Girls Immunized Against Cervical Cancer

Hamirpur | August 3: Hamirpur district has crossed the 50% milestone in its HPV vaccination campaign, with 1,525 girls aged 14–15 years vaccinated against cervical cancer. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ajay Atri said the district aims to vaccinate 2,967 girls in this age group, and special vaccination sessions will now be organized in schools to improve coverage.

Dr. Atri highlighted that cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among women after breast cancer, with persistent HPV infection being responsible for nearly 99.7% of cases. He urged eligible girls to get vaccinated, emphasizing that the HPV vaccine provides effective protection against cervical cancer in the future.
