Government to introduce incentive scheme for doctors: Chief Minister

· 110 posts of Assistant Professor and 120 posts of para-medical staff to be filled soon

· Transformative initiatives being undertaken in medical education sector

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a high-level meeting of the Medical Education department here today and said that the government would bring an incentive scheme for doctors. Under the scheme, the doctors would be given 20 percent incentive and the professors, associate professors and assistant professors of Medical Colleges would also be included in the scheme.

He said that 110 posts of Assistant Professors and 120 posts of para-medical staff would be filled in Medical Colleges which would strengthen the medical education and aid in providing better health services to the patients.

The Chief Minister also directed the officers to explore the possibilities of construction of a new Mother and Child Hospital in IGMC Shimla Campus and identify the land for the same. He added that the state government was equipping the health institutions across the state with world class modern medical equipments and machinery, and development of new as well as strengthening of existing health infrastructure. He added that PG seats in the Medical Colleges were being increased. At Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College 57 PG seats, at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College 29 PG seats, at Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College 32 PG seats, at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College 33 PG seats, at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College 67 PG seats and at Indira Gandhi Medical College 96 PG seats were being added. He stated that once PG seats have been increased, this would result in pacing up the works of Medical Colleges and also ensure quality health services.
