Governing Council of SCVT approves budget for fiscal 2026-27

The fiscal budget for the year 2026-27 was approved during the 9th meeting of the Governing Council of the State Council of Vocational and Industrial Training Society (SCVT) in Shimla. The council deliberated upon the income and expenditure of the SCVT Society.
During the meeting, held under the Chairmanship of Technical Education, Vocational & Industrial Training Secretary Dr. Abhishek Jain, the Council reviewed the Action Taken Report on the decisions of the previous meeting and expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved.
The Governing Council also discussed the proposal received from the Ayush department regarding renaming of the course Ayurvedic Spa Therapist (Panchkarma) Course to Panchkarma Technician Course. The proposal included the enhancement of intake capacity in existing institutions, namely RGGPG Ayurvedic Hospital, District Kangra, and Regional Ayurvedic Hospital, Chhota Shimla, as well as introduction of the course in 12 district and government hospitals under the Ayush Department. The move aims to provide new self-employment opportunities to the youth of the State as the Course has great self-employment potential.
The Governing Council accorded in-principle approval to the proposal. The Council approved to launch recently approved new one-year certificate courses namely Horticulture, Natural/Organic Farming and Dairy Technology in six Government Industrial Training Institutes, including Ghumarwin, Jubbal, Reckong-Peo, Rail, Theog and Shahpur. These certificate courses will align with the State’s geographical strength, generate self-employment opportunities and promote environmentally sustainable agriculture. It will support agri-based entrepreneurship.
The Council also approved development of the syllabus for a certificate course in Natural/Organic Farming as per recommendations of the expert working group constituted by the Department including the experts of the concerned Departments/Universities.
The Governing Council also approved the adoption of Affiliation Norms for ITIs-2025 alongwith fee-structure and additional guidelines for issuance of NOC at State Level for opening of new Private ITIs and addition of Trades/Units in existing Private ITIs.
