Drug Abuse: Threat Hollowing the Youth, Says Senior Judge at Career Point University Event
1 min readBhoranj, November 29 – The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, in collaboration with Career Point University, Kharwar, organized a *GEM Session* under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction. Senior Civil Judge and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Aslam Baig, served as the chief guest, while Bhoranj SDM Shashipal Sharma was the special guest.
Judge Baig emphasized that drug abuse is rapidly spreading, particularly among the youth, likening it to a termite that weakens the younger generation from within. He underscored the severe physical and social harm caused by substance abuse and stressed the need for collective citizen action despite stringent laws like the NDPS Act.
SDM Shashipal Sharma highlighted that students often start using drugs due to peer pressure or stress related to academic competition. He urged them to steer clear of such influences. Various experts, including police officials, health educators, and rehabilitation specialists, shared insights into the dangers of addiction.
The event concluded with District Welfare Officer Baldev Chandel thanking the guests and the university management, and student Shilpa Thakur hosting the session.
