Display Information on Flagship Welfare Schemes at Public Programmes: Kewal Singh Pathania

MLA Interacts with Hundreds of Identified BPL Families from 12 Panchayats in Rait

Shahpur, August 17, 2026: Shahpur MLA and Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania on Monday interacted with identified Below Poverty Line (BPL) families from 12 gram panchayats during a public outreach programme held in Rait.

The programme was attended by identified BPL families from Dadham, Dohab, Jhared, Manjgran, Nerti, Prei, Rait, Rakkar Ka Bagh, Sadun, Tatwani, Mundla and Sihwan panchayats.

Pathania said the programme marked the fourth phase of the initiative and that interactions have so far been held with identified BPL families across all 43 panchayats of the Shahpur Assembly constituency.

He said a BPL survey had been conducted after several years on the directions of the Chief Minister, with the objective of ensuring that the benefits of government welfare schemes reach the poorest and most deserving sections of society.

The MLA said suggestions and important cases concerning eligible beneficiaries received during the interactions would be brought before the state government. He added that every individual is being provided a proper opportunity to present their concerns and put forward their case.

Pathania directed all departments to display information through flex boards about the state government’s flagship programmes and other welfare schemes during such public outreach events. He said this would help eligible beneficiaries understand the schemes available to them and make use of the benefits.

Earlier, the MLA heard public grievances at the Congress office in Rait. Most of the issues were resolved on the spot, while the remaining matters were forwarded to the concerned departments for prompt action.

SDM Shahpur Ganesh Thakur provided details about the programme and appealed to financially well-off persons whose names may have been inadvertently included in the BPL list to voluntarily seek removal of their names. He said this would help ensure that government benefits reach families who are genuinely in need.

Block Congress President and Rait Deputy Pradhan Suresh Pataku welcomed the chief guest, dignitaries and panchayat representatives and expressed his gratitude to them. Zila Parishad member Surender Thakur appreciated the MLA’s sensitivity towards social issues and public welfare.

Congress General Secretary Pradeep Balouria said that Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania has consistently remained committed to public service and addressing the concerns of local residents.
