The anti-terrorism pledge was administered by joint Director Industries, Mrs. Deepika Khatri, during the observance at the Directorate headquarters. All Officers and employees collectively reaffirmed their commitment towards peace, social harmony, non-violence and national integrity.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Industries, Dr. Yunus said, “Anti-Terrorism Day reminds us of our collective responsibility to uphold peace, unity and democratic values. Such observances strengthen awareness against violence and inspire society, especially the youth, to follow the path of harmony and national integration.”
Additional Director, Tilak Raj Sharma stated, “The pledge taken today reflects our commitment towards maintaining communal harmony, constitutional values and a peaceful society. Every citizen has a role in building a strong and united India free from terrorism and violence.”
The officials also emphasized the importance of spreading awareness against terrorism and promoting the values of tolerance, brotherhood and humanity in society.
Anti-Terrorism Day is observed to generate awareness among all sections of society about the dangers of terrorism and violence and their adverse impact on the people, society and the nation as a whole. The day also commemorates the sacrifice of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated by terrorists on May 21, 1991.
The objective behind observing the day is to discourage people, especially the youth, from the path of terrorism and violence and to promote the values of peace, unity and harmony. Across the country, debates, discussions, seminars, lectures and awareness programmes are organized in educational institutions and public offices to highlight the dangers posed by terrorism and violent activities.
