DC Inspects Govind Sagar Area at Androuli to Boost Tourism and Water Sports

Una, September 26: Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal on Saturday inspected the Govind Sagar Lake area at Androuli to assess prospects for expanding tourism and water sports activities in the region.

During the site visit, the DC reviewed the available tourism potential, proposed activities and infrastructure requirements and held detailed discussions with officials. He also interacted with representatives of the Asian Development Bank and the Tourism Board regarding plans for developing tourism and water sports facilities in the area.

Lal directed officials to make optimal use of Androuli’s tourism potential and accord priority to developing the necessary infrastructure and visitor facilities. He said the KTDS had initiated the tendering process for promoting water sports and other sports activities at Androuli. The development of these facilities, he said, would boost tourism and create new employment and self-employment opportunities for local residents.

The DC also directed officials to identify a suitable site for paramotoring to expand adventure tourism opportunities and introduce new activities for visitors.

Later, Lal inspected the Ethnobotanical Park at Androuli and directed the DFO Una to undertake necessary repair and maintenance works. He said improving the park would enhance its appeal for tourists while providing visitors an opportunity to learn about local biodiversity and traditional plant species.

Lal said the integrated development of tourism, water sports, adventure activities and natural attractions could help establish Androuli as a major tourism destination. He directed concerned departments to work in coordination for the overall development of the area.
