Cyber Fraudsters Defraud Youth of ₹11 Lakh Promising Online Job

Kangra, Sept 13 – A young man from Bhawarna fell victim to cyber fraudsters while trying to earn money online. The scammers offered him an online job through Telegram, which he accepted. As part of the scheme, the youth was tasked with promoting a YouTube channel. Initially, the scammers lured him with the promise of a ₹1,000 bonus.

In this context, the victim has registered a case against unknown individuals at the Cyber Crime Police Station in the Nardan Range, Dharamshala. The victim invested around ₹5,000 initially to complete the first task. After successfully completing the task, the fraudsters transferred ₹6,000 into his account. However, he then became trapped in their scheme.

The victim ended up depositing a total of ₹11 lakh in various installments into the accounts of the fraudsters. In return, he did not receive any promised bonus or incentives. Finally, he realized he had fallen prey to deceitful individuals and reported the cybercrime.

Speaking on the matter, ASP Cyber Crime Praveen Dhiman explained that the case filed by the victim has initiated further action against the unknown suspects. He urged the public to be cautious, as such cunning individuals are employing new tactics to defraud people during these times.

In the past 26 days, cyber fraudsters have duped four people out of approximately ₹44 lakhs in the Nardan Range, Dharamshala area. The first case was registered on August 18, involving a complaint of fraud amounting to ₹20.53 lakhs.

Subsequently, on August 30, a case was filed where an elderly man from Rajal was defrauded of ₹12 lakhs. On September 5, another case was registered, where a youth from Dadasiaba lost ₹5.30 lakhs. Finally, on September 12, a youth from Bhawarna reported a fraud of ₹11 lakhs.
