Congress Holds BJP Responsible for Economic Crisis in the State

Shimla: The Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sundar Lal Thakur and Ashish Butail have stated that the economic mismanagement by the BJP is responsible for the economic crisis in Himachal Pradesh. They mentioned that during the previous BJP government’s tenure, misuse of government funds was brought to light through a white paper presented in the assembly, exposing the truth before the people of the state. It is a fact that in the last year of the previous BJP government, extravagant spending of Rs. 16,261 crore was done on programs like Amrit Mahotsav, Progressive Himachal, Jan Manch, and Foundation Day just to win elections. As a result, by the end of the financial year 2022-23, the state had accumulated a debt of Rs. 92,774 crore.

They highlighted that every Himachali now carries a debt of over one lakh rupees due to the policies of the previous BJP government.

The Chief Parliamentary Secretaries mentioned that under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu, the current state government has made improvements in economic policies, resulting in an increase of Rs. 2200 crore in state revenue. They also mentioned that additional revenue was generated through the auction of liquor contracts. Moreover, the state government has cracked down on corruption and utilized public money for public welfare, leading to the implementation of various schemes for the welfare of women, farmers, laborers, and other sections of society.

They expressed confidence that under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu, Himachal Pradesh will prosper economically in the future.

Thakur and Butail accused BJP leaders of being adept at lying and attempting to deceive the people of Himachal Pradesh with false claims. They emphasized that the people of Himachal Pradesh are educated and can distinguish between truth and falsehood.
