Solan, May 12, 2026:
BJP Himachal Pradesh President Dr. Rajeev Bindal on Tuesday launched the BJP’s manifesto for the Solan Municipal Corporation elections and strongly criticized the Congress government and the functioning of the Municipal Corporation.
Addressing the media, Dr. Bindal said that despite Congress being in power in the Solan Municipal Corporation, the state government, and having both the local MLA and minister from the party, residents are still struggling for basic facilities such as drinking water, cleanliness, parking, and civic amenities.
He alleged that Congress had made several promises during the 2021 Municipal Corporation elections, including regular and affordable drinking water supply, free garbage collection, improved sanitation, parking facilities, and ward development, but failed to fulfill them on the ground.
Dr. Bindal claimed that many areas in Solan continue to face severe water shortages, forcing residents to purchase expensive water tankers, while garbage collection charges have increased despite poor sanitation services. He further alleged that the city has turned into a “garbage dump” due to the failure of the civic administration.
Targeting the Congress manifesto for the upcoming elections, he said the party should first provide an account of its previous promises made in 2021 before presenting a new manifesto to the public.
Highlighting BJP’s vision for Solan, Dr. Bindal said the party’s manifesto is not merely a political promise but a roadmap for comprehensive urban development. He stated that BJP aims to transform Solan into a clean, green, safe, smart, and drug-free city.
According to him, BJP plans to introduce modern door-to-door waste collection systems, establish scientific waste management plants, improve digital monitoring of sanitation services, and increase the number of sanitation workers.
The party also promised regular and clean drinking water supply, development of dedicated water tanks in each ward, improvement of sewerage infrastructure, and construction of multi-level parking facilities in key areas of the city.
Dr. Bindal further said BJP would launch a strong campaign against drug abuse, especially the spread of “chitta” and other narcotics, through awareness drives in schools and colleges and strict action against drug mafias in coordination with police and society.
He added that BJP would focus on transparency, digitization of municipal services, better facilities for senior citizens, women, and differently-abled persons, and time-bound delivery of civic services.
Expressing confidence ahead of the elections, Dr. Bindal said the people of Solan would support BJP for development, transparency, and good governance.
