Shimla, Sept. 19 – In a recent development, cement companies including ACC, UltraTech, and Ambuja have increased the prices of cement by INR 10 per bag in Himachal Pradesh. Following this price hike, a bag of cement will now be available at INR 440. Cement companies have taken this decision after the Excise and Taxation Department raised taxes.
The increase in prices is expected to impose an additional burden on the general public. According to sources, prices may rise further by INR 5 in the coming days. A bag of ACC cement, which was previously priced at INR 430, will now cost INR 440, and ACC Gold cement will be available at INR 480.
UltraTech and Ambuja cement bags, which were priced at INR 430, will also see an increase to INR 440. The increased prices came into effect at midnight on Monday.
Kishan Lal, the distributor of ACC cement from Kishan Lal and Sons, and Manoj Kumar, the operator of Satya Prakash and Company, stated that the Excise and Taxation Department had raised the tax on cement by INR 3.50 per bag on Saturday. The department was already collecting INR 7.50 per bag as tax. Consequently, ordinary consumers will now find cement more expensive by INR 10 per bag.
This price hike in cement may have implications for construction projects and consumers in Himachal Pradesh.
