Matthew House Reigns Supreme at AHSB Athletic Extravaganza

Shimla, May 22: The Senior Section Sports Day at Auckland House School for Boys concluded on a high note with students displaying remarkable athletic talent, teamwork and sportsmanship across various track and relay events.

In the 800 metres race under the Under-19 A category, Tanisha Sharma secured the first position, followed by Yatharth Dogra in second place and Hiten Papta in third.

The Baton Relay (4×400) events witnessed intense competition among teams across different age categories. In the Under-19 A category, the team led by Anurag Thakur claimed the first position, while Arhan Shah’s team secured second place and Rishi Sood’s team finished third.

In the Under-17 B category, Rudra Dogra’s team emerged victorious, followed by Ayaan Dhanta’s team in second place and Tridhiman Chauhan’s team in third position.

The Under-14 C category saw Tanish Sood’s team winning the top spot, while Sarthak Thakur’s team and Vasav Dogra’s team secured second and third places respectively.

The Baton Relay (1×100) races also added excitement to the event. In the Under-19 A category, Anurag Thakur’s team secured first place, followed by Sanat Verma’s team and Hiten Papta’s team. In the Under-17 B category, Rudra Dogra’s team once again claimed the top position, while Ayaan Dhanta’s team stood second and Himanshu Thakur’s team finished third.

In the Under-14 C category of the 1×100 relay, Kunal Thakur’s team secured first place, while Khush Rachuvanshi’s team stood second.

The programme began with the reception of the Chief Guest, Colonel Akash Singha, Commanding Officer, 7 HP NCC, followed by the inspection of the parade and an impressive march past by the students. The ceremonial salute reflected the discipline and confidence that the school continues to instill in its students.

A series of colourful and energetic performances, including Free Hand PT, Yoga, Gymnastics, Bamboo PT and Taekwondo, showcased not only physical fitness but also the precision, coordination and dedication of the students. Skating races, and musical chair events added excitement and cheers from the audience.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Colonel Akash Singha appreciated the school for nurturing young minds through sports alongside academics. He said that sports teach resilience, leadership and teamwork, qualities that shape responsible citizens and future leaders. He encouraged students to embrace challenges both on the field and in life with confidence and discipline.

Principal Reuben John expressed pride in the students’ participation and spirit throughout the event. He said that sports are not merely competitions but an important platform for character-building, self-belief and emotional growth. “At Auckland House School for Boys, we believe every child must experience the joy of participation, the value of discipline and the confidence that comes through teamwork. Sports Day is a celebration of these life lessons beyond the classroom,” he said.
