22 Cartons of Firecrackers Seized in Rampur, FIR Registered
Shimla, October 28: Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap has directed strict action against the illegal sale and storage of firecrackers in the district, warning that violations will invite legal action, including registration of FIRs and penalties.
In a recent operation, Rampur police seized 22 cartons of firecrackers allegedly stored illegally at a shop in Talai (Nogली), Rampur. An FIR (No. 119/26) was registered on October 28 against Deepak Bansal, a resident of Rampur, under Sections 125 and 288 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 9B of the Explosives Act, 1884.
The seized firecrackers have been deposited at Bushahr House in Rampur. Head Constable Surendra (No. 178) of Rampur police station is investigating the case.
Kashyap said a valid licence is mandatory for selling firecrackers, and sales are permitted only at locations designated by the administration. He said the Explosives Act, 1884, and Explosives Rules, 2008, govern the sale and storage of firecrackers, and violations will be dealt with under the law.
Emphasising public safety during the festive season, the Deputy Commissioner urged sellers to comply with licensing and storage requirements and appealed to residents to purchase firecrackers only from authorised vendors. The district administration and police will continue monitoring compliance and take action against violators.
