2 min readChamba, Nov 24 : The Mukhyamantri Nishulk Nidhan Yojana is transforming healthcare in Himachal Pradesh, particularly in Chamba district, where 40 health centers are now equipped to provide free diagnostic services. Since its implementation in May 2022 through Karsana Diagnostics at the Regional Hospital Chamba, over 1,24,482 patients have availed 6,64,743 free tests, with the government incurring an expenditure of ₹3.21 crore.
The scheme offers a comprehensive range of 133 tests, including diagnostics for serious conditions like heart, kidney, and liver diseases. Additionally, free X-ray facilities are provided, ensuring advanced diagnostic care within government hospitals. For patients requiring tests beyond the free 133, subsidized rates are offered, significantly lower than private laboratory charges.
The program covers the Regional Hospital Chamba, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, and 39 Primary Health Centers in remote areas, such as Rajnagar, Pukhri, Chuwari, and Bani, among others. Beneficiaries simply need to present their OPD slips, listing prescribed tests, at the Karsana lab within hospital premises, ensuring a seamless and cost-free process.
Patients have lauded the initiative, citing significant savings in both time and money. Beneficiaries like Sharif Mohammad and Bhupender Kumar expressed gratitude for no longer needing private labs for expensive tests. The scheme also ensures timely diagnoses and treatment, enhancing healthcare accessibility.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bipin Thakur emphasized that the initiative’s success stems from effective collaboration between the government and Karsana Diagnostics. He added that the government bears the complete cost, alleviating the financial burden on patients.
By providing free and efficient diagnostic services, the *Mukhyamantri Nishulk Nidhan Yojana* has not only improved healthcare in Chamba but also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring quality and affordable healthcare for all.
