35 Gram Panchayats in Solan Declared TB-Free: DC Manmohan Sharma

Solan, March 24, 2025 – Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma emphasized that tuberculosis (TB) is completely curable with timely medical intervention, proper testing, and adherence to prescribed treatment. Speaking at the World TB Day celebrations, organized by the Health and Family Welfare Department at the district level, he highlighted the importance of awareness, prevention, and early treatment.
During the event, 35 gram panchayats in Solan were honored for achieving TB-free status as per the central government’s health standards. Sharma stressed that the state government provides free treatment and medicines for TB patients and also offers ₹1,000 per month for six months as nutritional support. The government has set a target to eradicate TB from Himachal Pradesh by 2025.
Among the top 11 TB-free gram panchayats, representatives from Kunihar, Dharampur, Nalagarh, and Kandaghat blocks were felicitated with a silver statue of Mahatma Gandhi and a certificate of appreciation. Additionally, 24 other panchayats were honored with bronze Gandhi statues and certificates.
Sharma urged panchayat representatives to actively participate in spreading awareness to make the district completely TB-free. The event concluded with all participants taking the “TB Mukt Bharat” pledge.
