Shimla, April 27: In a significant step towards sustainable development and waste management, the second Swami Vivekananda Panchvati Plastic Waste Park of Himachal Pradesh has been constructed in the remote Paudia Gram Panchayat of Chopal block. The park was inaugurated by Shimla Additional Deputy Commissioner, Abhishek Verma.

Highlighting the achievement, Verma mentioned that despite the challenging terrain, the park was constructed in a record 21 days, utilizing approximately 6 quintals of plastic waste. He emphasized that within just six months, two such plastic waste parks have been developed in the Chopal area, making it the only block in the state to achieve this feat. Verma congratulated BDO Chaupal Vineet Thakur and Gram Panchayat Paudia Pradhan Tapendra Mohan Sharma for their efforts.

Verma pointed out that such initiatives are crucial for the proper management of plastic waste. While these parks enhance the aesthetic appeal of the region, they also promote environment-friendly practices. He urged the public not to litter but to collect and manage plastic waste effectively.

BDO Vineet Thakur stated that the aim of creating these parks was to demonstrate how waste materials could be transformed into beautiful and functional spaces. These parks are not just recreational spaces but symbols of awareness, responsibility, and community participation. Chopal has set a new benchmark for sustainable development in the state by addressing plastic waste issues creatively.

Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, added that old tyres and plastic bottles were repurposed in the park’s construction, making it an attractive destination for locals, children, and tourists alike. He stressed that people must learn to reuse discarded materials creatively to contribute to environmental conservation and ensure a clean and beautiful future for coming generations.
