Himachal Govt Colleges to Observe Holiday on August 17
Shimla, August 16, 2026: The Directorate of Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh, has declared August 17, 2026, as a holiday for all government colleges and government Sanskrit colleges across the state.
The decision has been taken in recognition of the enthusiastic participation of students and teachers in Independence Day celebrations held at the college, sub-division, district and state levels.
The Directorate has also forwarded the order to private colleges, leaving it to their respective managements to take an appropriate decision regarding the holiday.
