BCS Shimla Hosts Thrilling Finale: Bishop Cotton Bangalore Clinches Victory in 21st Goldstein Cricket Tournament

Shimla, April 26, 2024: The prestigious 21st Major R K Von Goldstein Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament, hosted by Bishop Cotton School (BCS), Shimla, culminated in a gripping final match, showcasing top-notch cricketing talent from across the nation.

In a historic showdown, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Bangalore emerged triumphant against their counterparts, Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, in a fiercely contested final match held on April 25, 2024. The final witnessed a remarkable display of skill and sportsmanship, with Bangalore’s team emerging victorious by scoring 209 runs, clinching the title in a convincing fashion.

Surinder S Thakur, President of the Shimla District Cricket Association, graced the event as the chief guest for the final match, presenting trophies and medals to the deserving teams.

The tournament witnessed the participation of eight esteemed schools hailing from five different states across India, including Bishop Cotton, Shimla, Bishop Cotton Boys School, Bangalore, Mayo College, La Martiniere Lucknow, Daly College, Vasant Valley, YPS Mohali, and Pinegrove.

BCS Director, Simon Weale, lauded the exceptional competition, highlighting the camaraderie and competitive spirit displayed by the participating teams. He commended the resilience and determination exhibited by BCS Bangalore, expressing optimism for future encounters between the sister schools.

The tournament, which commenced with great enthusiasm on April 22, 2024, featured a series of exhilarating matches, captivating cricket enthusiasts from around the globe. The opening match between hosts BCS Shimla and Pinegrove set the stage for an electrifying tournament, with BCS Shimla emerging victorious by a narrow margin of one wicket.

Mr. Simon Weale, Director of BCS, inaugurated the tournament, emphasizing its significance in nurturing young cricketing talent in India. Notable alumni, such as Mayank Dagar, who represented BCS in previous editions of the tournament and later excelled in professional cricket, served as inspirations for the aspiring cricketers participating in this year’s event.
