Major Drug Bust in Shimla: Key Opium Kingpin Apprehended

Shimla, July 11, 2024— In a significant breakthrough, a team led by SDPO Theog Siddhartha successfully apprehended a major drug peddler in connection with the ongoing NDPS case (FIR No. 94/2024). This arrest follows the recovery of 1.5kg of opium from two individuals in Matiana.

Based on technical inputs and ground reports, the follow-up investigation traced the backward linkages to accused Ravi Giri. A police team headed by SI Ankush from PS Theog, under the supervision of SHO Theog, arrested Ravi Giri from Narkanda.

Ravi Giri has been arrested under Section 29 of the NDPS Act in PS Theog. He is identified as a major kingpin in the opium drug racket. The financial transactions linked to him amount to approximately *Rs 3 Crore 40 Lakh* since 2022. Further investigations are underway to identify and seize all illegal movable and immovable properties. During interrogation, it was revealed that he has been involved in this illegal trade for a long time.

The accused will be produced in the Ld Court shortly.
