Government Destroying Investment and Employment Prospects in Industrial Areas: Jairam Thakur

Solan/Baddi, October 5: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has accused the Sukhu government of creating an environment that is discouraging industries and harming investment and employment prospects in Himachal Pradesh.

Speaking to reporters in Baddi, Thakur alleged that an extortion network was operating in the industrial sector and claimed that industries were being subjected to multiple taxes and financial pressures. He also alleged irregularities in the allocation of industrial plots and said the deployment of certain officials was adding to the difficulties faced by industries.

Thakur claimed that the situation was prompting industries to consider shifting out of the state, which, he said, could affect revenue and employment opportunities. He also alleged that pollution in the industrial area had reached serious levels and that local residents were holding frequent protests.

He said the government should focus on protecting the interests of the people and maintaining a conducive environment for investment. Thakur warned that the exit of industries could reduce employment opportunities and adversely affect the state’s economy and the future prospects of young people.
