Special Campaign to Assist Homeless Persons with Mental Illness

Dharamshala, October 5: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kangra, will conduct a special campaign from October 7 to 9 to assist homeless and vulnerable persons suffering from mental illness.

DLSA Secretary R. Mihul Sharma said the campaign aims to provide timely and appropriate medical assistance while protecting the rights, dignity and welfare of such persons.

The campaign will be conducted in coordination with the district administration, police, Health and Family Welfare Department, and Social Justice and Empowerment Department. Para-legal volunteers will also assist in identifying people in need.

Identified persons will undergo health check-ups and receive necessary treatment. Those requiring specialised care will be facilitated for admission to appropriate psychiatric institutions. Counselling, rehabilitation support and social assistance will also be provided.

Sharma appealed to the public to inform the concerned administrative authorities or the DLSA if they come across any homeless person who appears to be mentally unwell.
