Three-Day Entrepreneurship Programme for Farmers Concludes at KVK Solan

Solan, September 23: A three-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for farmers and self-help group (SHG) members concluded at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Solan, Kandaghat, on Wednesday.

Organised by the Industries Department under the Government of India’s RAMP Programme and implemented by NITCON Limited, the programme was attended by 30 farmers and SHG members. Participants received expert training on horticulture, natural farming, value addition, marketing and agriculture-based entrepreneurship.

Sessions covered orchard management, production strategies for tropical and subtropical crops, natural farming, vermicompost and bio-fertiliser-based enterprises, floriculture and landscaping, crop diversification, fertigation, low-cost irrigation techniques, soil testing and safe use of pesticides.

On the final day, experts discussed the economics and marketing of mushroom production, entrepreneurial opportunities across the mushroom value chain and the role of marketing in increasing farm income. Participants also received practical training in soil sampling.

The programme was coordinated by Dr Meera Thakur under the guidance of Dr Seema Thakur, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Solan.

Officials from District Industries Centre, Solan, including Sunita Sharma, Amit Chauhan and Manager Vinay Verma, distributed participation certificates and encouraged farmers and SHG members to utilise agriculture-based entrepreneurship opportunities and government schemes to strengthen their enterprises.
