MDR-66 Near Kombermere Bridge to Remain Closed at Night on Sept 23-24

Shimla, September 23: The MDR-66 road near Kombermere Bridge, close to the Lift, will remain closed to traffic from 11 pm to 5 am on September 23 and 24 due to bridge girder launching work.

Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap issued the order under Sections 115 and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, following a request from the PWD Shimla Urban Division and recommendation of the Shimla police.

During the closure, traffic will be diverted through alternative routes, including Victory Tunnel and Tolland, as directed by traffic police.

The executing agency has been directed to ensure adequate barricading, reflective warning signs, blinkers, cones and other traffic-control measures. Sufficient workers, flagmen, watchmen and security personnel will also be deployed.

The agency has been asked to coordinate continuously with traffic police and the local administration and ensure uninterrupted movement of emergency vehicles, including ambulances, fire tenders and police vehicles.

The administration has advised motorists and the public to follow traffic police instructions and use designated alternative routes during the closure period.
