Unauthorised Entry into Chintpurni Temple Restricted During Shravan Ashtami Fair

SDM Amb Issues Orders to Ensure Pilgrim Safety and Smooth Crowd Management

Amb (Una), August 18, 2026: In view of the large influx of devotees during the ongoing Shravan Ashtami Fair, SDM Amb Paras Aggarwal has issued orders under Section 112 of the Himachal Pradesh Police Act, 2007, to regulate entry into the Mata Shri Chintpurni Temple and ensure the safety and orderly movement of pilgrims.

Under the order, devotees will not be permitted to enter the temple premises through shops located near the temple or through any unauthorised or additional entry points adjoining the temple pathway. Devotees have been directed to use only the designated entry and exit routes and strictly follow the prescribed queue system and instructions issued by the police and temple administration.

The police have been directed to conduct a special drive to identify unauthorised backdoor and secondary entrances around the temple that may be used by shopkeepers or other individuals to facilitate direct entry of devotees.

After verification of the concerned premises, such unauthorised entrances will be sealed immediately. The action will be undertaken in the presence and with the assistance of the Temple Officer, Naib Tehsildar-cum-Executive Magistrate and the concerned Sector Magistrate.

The administration has noted that the large number of devotees visiting the temple during the Shravan Ashtami Fair places considerable pressure on the designated pedestrian routes. Additional entrances or open passages at shops near the temple could allow devotees to bypass the established queue and entry arrangements, potentially resulting in overcrowding and disorder.

The order also takes note of a video circulated on social media showing devotees allegedly being facilitated entry into the temple premises through a shop adjoining the temple. The administration has expressed concern that such unauthorised access could disrupt crowd management and create challenges related to public safety, traffic regulation and law and order.

SDM Paras Aggarwal appealed to devotees to strictly adhere to the designated entry and exit routes and the prescribed queue system. He urged pilgrims not to use any unauthorised route or shop to enter the temple premises.

The order will remain in force until August 22, 2026. Any violation will attract action under the applicable provisions of law.
