Shimla Reviews Census 2027 Phase-I Progress, Officials Directed to Complete House Listing by July 15

Shimla, July 10: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a review meeting on the progress of Census 2027 Phase-I (House Listing & Housing Census) through video conferencing, directing Charge Officers to ensure all house listing and verification work is completed within the stipulated timeline.

Officials were informed that the House Listing Operation (HLO) is to be completed by July 11, while checking, scrutiny and validation of data must be finished by July 15, 2026. The Deputy Commissioner stressed regular monitoring, timely correction of discrepancies, and strict adherence to data quality, confidentiality and security standards.

The review also focused on verifying key census indicators, including sanitation, drinking water, cooking fuel, electricity, internet connectivity and other household amenities. Officials were instructed to ensure complete field coverage, conduct regular inspections, upload updated layout maps, and identify special census charges.

Preparations for Phase-II (Population Enumeration) were also reviewed, with special emphasis on advance planning for snow-bound areas and timely creation of new Enumeration Blocks to ensure smooth execution of the next phase.
