THDCIL Reaffirms Commitment to Cleanliness and Sustainability through Swachhata Pakhwada–2026

Rishikesh, 26-05-2026: THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has reaffirmed its commitment towards the vision of a Clean and Green India through active participation in the nationwide Swachhata Pakhwada–2026, being observed from 16th May to 31st May 2026 across all its Offices, Project locations, and operational units. Sh. Sipan Kumar Garg, Chairman and Managing Director, stated that THDCIL is observing Swachhata Pakhwada with dedicated efforts to promote cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation, environmental awareness, and public participation. He emphasized that the initiative reflects THDCIL’s unwavering commitment towards promoting cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and fostering a healthier and cleaner society through collective responsibility and public awareness.
As part of the observance, Sh. Neeraj Verma, Executive Director (C&MM and CP), administered the Swachhata Pledge at THDCIL Corporate Office, Rishikesh, reaffirming the collective resolve towards maintaining cleanliness and fostering a healthy environment.
Several awareness and outreach activities have already been organized across THDCIL’s project sites and surrounding communities under Swachhata Pakhwada–2026. A series of Nukkad Natak (street plays) based on the theme “Clean India, Green India, Healthy India” were organized at prominent public locations, including Janaki Setu and Triveni Ghat, Rishikesh, to spread awareness regarding cleanliness, sanitation, and environmental protection. Similar awareness performances by students of Narendra Mahila Vidyalay, Baghi were also conducted at THDC Admin Building, Mechanical Office Koti, and Tehri Lake Boating Point in Tehri-Garhwal.
In addition, several community-centric initiatives such as cleanliness drives, drawing and painting competitions, essay writing activities, awareness workshops, hygiene campaigns, signature campaigns, and cleanliness awareness rallies were conducted at various project locations including Jhansi, Amelia Coal Mine Project, 1000 MW Tehri HPP, 444 MW VPHEP Unit, 400 MW Koteshwar HEP, Namsai Transit Camp APP Unit, and 1320 MW STPP Khurja. These activities have focused on promoting environmental consciousness, hygiene awareness, waste management, and community participation, especially among students, women, and local residents.
Special awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene and women’s health were organized at multiple locations, wherein female students, women residents, and employees actively participated in interactive discussions aimed at promoting proper hygiene practices and health awareness. Distribution of sanitary napkins and biodegradable bags was also undertaken to encourage healthy and sustainable practices among communities.
Through these ongoing initiatives, THDCIL continues to strengthen its commitment towards environmental sustainability, cleanliness, and social awareness while encouraging citizens to actively contribute towards maintaining clean and healthy surroundings.
The observance of Swachhata Pakhwada–2026 will continue till 31st May 2026, with several more awareness, cleanliness, and community engagement activities planned across THDCIL’s Offices and Project Units.
