Governor Visits Government Primary School in Kangra

Shimla, May 20, 2026: Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta visited the Government Primary School at Gujreda in Kangra district on Tuesday to assess the ground realities of education in rural areas. During the visit, he interacted with students, teachers and officials of the Education Department to understand the challenges faced by schools and students in remote regions.

The Governor reviewed the academic environment, basic infrastructure and facilities available in the school. He also interacted warmly with students and encouraged them to pursue education with dedication, discipline and self-confidence.

Addressing officials and teachers, the Governor said that children are the future of the nation and strengthening educational infrastructure in rural and difficult areas is essential for ensuring their bright future. He stressed the need for better classrooms, sanitation facilities, digital learning resources and a supportive academic environment in government schools.

Kavinder Gupta also highlighted Himachal Pradesh’s achievements in the field of education. Referring to the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 and PGI-D 2024-25 reports released by the Ministry of Education, he said the state has secured sixth position nationally and third among states in providing quality education.

The Governor also discussed the concept of strategic grouping of schools for optimum use of resources and manpower, stating that such measures would help improve educational quality and administrative efficiency.

He said education plays a vital role in building a progressive society and urged teachers to continue working with dedication and commitment for the brighter future of the younger generation.

The Governor also appreciated the efforts of teachers serving in remote and difficult areas of the state.
