JUIT Strengthens Academia–Industry Collaboration Through Expert Interaction

The Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at Jaypee University of Information Technology had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Priyanka Priyadarsiny on 8 May 2026. Dr. Priyanka, who serves as Head of R&D – Biologicals at Panacea Biotec Ltd., was warmly received by university dignitaries, faculty members, students, and technical staff.

The visit was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Dean (R&I) Prof. Sudhir Syal, Associate Dean (Innovation) Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh, Program Coordinator Prof. Anil Kant Thakur, and Head of Department Prof. Jata Shankar.

During the visit, Dr. Priyanka facilitated the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the JUIT GAT-B Mock Test 2026. The mock test saw participation from 384 students representing 12 colleges across Himachal Pradesh. Faculty members from the department conducted the mock test at multiple institutions across the state to help students prepare for the Government of India’s Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B).

The visit aimed to strengthen academia–industry interaction, encourage research collaboration, and provide students with exposure to current industrial practices and placement opportunities in the biotechnology sector.

Addressing UG, PG, and PhD students, Dr. Priyanka shared valuable insights on industry expectations, placement trends, and the technical and professional competencies required for successful careers in biotechnology and allied sciences. She also conducted viva voce examinations for postgraduate students and appreciated the quality of research being carried out within the department.

Dr. Priyanka visited various research laboratories and interacted with faculty members and research scholars regarding ongoing academic and research projects. An engaging interactive session was also organized to discuss future possibilities for academic and industrial collaboration.

The session proved highly motivating and informative for students, offering practical career guidance and deeper insights into opportunities within the biotechnology industry. The visit concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the significance of strong academia–industry partnerships in advancing innovation, research, and student development.
