Shimla, April 23, 2026: Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh attended the closing ceremony of the five-day state-level Rohru Fair as the chief guest, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the overall development of the region.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said that no effort would be spared in ensuring the development of the Rohru constituency. He also recalled the contributions of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and stated that his development vision would continue to guide ongoing initiatives.
Highlighting infrastructure priorities, Singh said that road construction and strengthening remain a key focus, particularly after damage caused by recent natural disasters. He informed that around ₹20 crore is being spent on the upgradation of the Rohru–Chirgaon road, while efforts are underway to connect the remote Dodra-Kwar region with road access.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, approximately 1,500 kilometres of roads have been approved across the state, with an estimated cost of ₹2,300 crore. Of these, 22 roads in the Rohru area will be developed at a cost of nearly ₹300 crore. He also mentioned ongoing and proposed works on the Brandli–Sungri and Rohru–Rampur roads.
On urban development, the minister said that projects related to beautification, parking infrastructure, and other basic facilities are being planned for Rohru, including efforts to introduce hydraulic parking systems to improve traffic management.
During the event, the minister released the fair souvenir and honoured winners of various sports competitions. Cultural performances by school students added vibrancy to the programme. Social worker Sangeeta Khurana was also felicitated for her contribution to anti-drug initiatives.
MLA Mohan Lal Brakta, while welcoming the chief guest, said that development works in the constituency are progressing steadily with a focus on infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
The event was attended by local officials, representatives of various organisations, and a large number of residents.
