Himachal Govt Sacks Three Assistant Professors Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Shimla, Apr 16: The Himachal Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has taken strict action on women’s safety by dismissing three assistant professors from different government colleges over serious allegations of harassment and attempted sexual assault involving female students.
According to orders issued by Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, the action follows completion of departmental inquiries under CCS Rules, 1965.
The dismissed faculty include an assistant professor from Government College Nadaun in Hamirpur district accused of inappropriate conduct during a lab session in 2024, a mathematics professor from Government College Chaura Maidan in Shimla linked to a 2021 attempted assault case, and a Kathak instructor accused of prolonged harassment and attempted assault of a student.
The government stated that the move sends a strong message of zero tolerance towards misconduct in educational institutions and reinforces its commitment to ensuring the safety and dignity of students.
