Kullu Youth Red Cross Team Shines at National Youth Exchange Programme
2 min readKullu, March 2: A ten-member team of Youth Red Cross Kullu delivered an outstanding performance at the National Youth Exchange Programme held from February 25 to March 1, 2026, at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara. The team participated under the leadership of Dr. Ram Kumar and Sheila Sharma, Programme Officers of the Youth Red Cross Unit, JLN Government College Haripur (Manali), and DIET Jarad (Bhuntar).
Assistant Commissioner to the Deputy Commissioner Kullu, Jaibanti Thakur, informed that the team was sponsored by the Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch Kullu. The camp witnessed participation of 184 Youth Red Cross volunteers from colleges and universities across Telangana, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. The event was organized by the Punjab State Red Cross Society in collaboration with Lovely Professional University.
The programme aimed to promote humanitarian values, national integration, cultural exchange, leadership development, life-saving skills, environmental awareness, disaster management, and social responsibility. Various interactive workshops, inter-state and inter-university cultural and skill-based competitions were conducted. Participants also undertook an educational visit to the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar.
The Kullu Youth Red Cross team secured first position in overall performance at the national camp. In competitions, the team won first prize in group folk dance (Dakshesh Raj, Sarthak, Sanjeev, Shivani, Rhythm, Vanshika, Gunjan, and Shia), first prize in solo folk song (Dakshesh Raj), first prize in patriotic group song (Shivani, Rhythm, Vanshika, Gunjan, and Shia), second prize in solo song (Vanshika), second prize in quiz competition (Rhythm), and third prize in poster making (Sudanshu).
Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of District Red Cross Society Kullu, Anurag Chandra Sharma, congratulated the winners and programme officers for this remarkable achievement. He stated that such accomplishments bring pride to the district and serve as an inspiration for other Junior and Youth Red Cross units. He also appreciated the efforts of the Red Cross team secretary, coordinators, and nodal officers for successfully implementing Red Cross programmes in schools and colleges across the district.
