Committee Formed to Assess Four-Lane Damage to Houses in Chalonthi: DC Shimla

Shimla, January 9, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has constituted a committee to assess losses caused to houses in Chalonthi after cracks reportedly appeared due to four-lane construction activity. The committee will be headed by SDM Shimla (Rural) Manjeet Sharma and will submit a detailed report within one week, which will form the basis for compensation proceedings.
The DC said the administration acted promptly after receiving information late at night and immediately evacuated affected houses to ensure safety. He added that all possible assistance is being provided to the families and the four-lane construction work has been completely stopped for now.
The State Geologist has also started preparing a separate report to identify the causes of damage and is expected to submit findings within a week. DC Kashyap visited the site, interacted with affected residents and assured support. Senior officials including SSP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, ADM Law & Order Pankaj Sharma and other officers were present during the visit.
