Paras Health Performs Rare Breast Cancer Surgery on High-Risk Patient

Panchkula, December 17, 2025: Paras Health Panchkula has successfully performed one of the world’s rarest breast cancer surgeries on a patient suffering from Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy Type 2 (LGMD-2), a condition that severely weakens muscles and respiratory function. The coexistence of LGMD-2 and breast cancer made standard chemotherapy unsafe, with the potential to trigger fatal anaesthetic and metabolic complications.
Multiple centres had initially recommended conventional chemotherapy, but after evaluation at Paras Health, Dr Ishaan Allahabadi, Consultant Cancer Surgeon, identified the high-risk profile and altered the treatment plan. Working closely with Senior Anaesthesiologist Dr Ashwani, the team conducted a detailed personalised risk assessment and concluded that primary surgery was the safest and most effective option.
Using a customised anaesthetic protocol, the team successfully removed the tumour, and the patient made a smooth post-operative recovery. Dr Ishaan said, “In rare combinations like LGMD-2 with breast cancer, the routine approach can be dangerous. Our goal was not aggressive treatment, but the right treatment—one that cured the cancer without risking her life.”
The patient’s family expressed deep gratitude, stating that for the first time, a medical team prioritised her unique condition over standard protocol. Facility Director Dr Pankaj Mittal added, “This case reflects the evolution of modern oncology—not just advanced technology, but sound clinical judgement and personalised care.” Now recovering well, the patient recently gifted a hand-painted portrait to Dr Ishaan as a gesture of appreciation. Paras Health Panchkula continues to strengthen its expertise in delivering precision-based cancer care for high-risk and complex medical cases.
