Shimla, September 20, 2025:
In a landmark step towards India’s renewable energy goals, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone of SJVN’s 200 MW Solar Power Project (GUVNL Phase – XVII) at Khavda Solar Park, Gujarat.
Graced by Gujarat CM Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and several Union Ministers, the event was also joined virtually by CMD SJVN Shri Bhupender Gupta, Directors, and senior officials of SJVN and SGEL.
The project, to be developed at an estimated cost of ₹866.8 crore, will generate 504.92 million units of electricity in its first year and about 11,620 million units over 25 years. It will also reduce carbon emissions by around 5.69 lakh tonnes, contributing to India’s 2030 target of 500 GW renewable energy capacity and Net Zero by 2070.
SJVN’s Khavda project, scheduled for commissioning by December 2026, will supply power to GUVNL at a tariff of ₹2.88/unit while creating local employment opportunities and harnessing the vast arid land of Kachchh for green energy.
