HP Cabinet Greenlights Welfare Boosts, MSP Hikes, Transport Expansion & Healthcare Upgrades

Shimla, 6 May 2025: In a meeting chaired by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet approved the inclusion of domestic workers and their daughters (21+) under the *Indira Gandhi Pyari Behana Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojna*, entitling them to a monthly pension of ₹1500.
Key decisions included raising the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for naturally grown wheat to ₹60/kg and maize to ₹40/kg, and fixing MSP for raw turmeric at ₹90/kg and barley from Pangi at ₹60/kg. Pangi will also be declared the first *Natural Farming Sub-Division*.
The Cabinet sanctioned 422 new private stage carriage routes to enhance transport and boost youth employment. To address urban congestion, closed basement floors may now be used as parking, with penalties for misuse.
It approved setting up Nephrology, Neurology, and Gastroenterology departments at Dr. Radhakrishnan Govt. Medical College, Hamirpur, and 118 new posts. Posts under Krishi Vigyan Kendras and a new *Jal Shakti Vibhag* division at Sujanpur were also cleared.
New policies include halving homestay registration fees in Pangi, upgrading health facilities in Kangra and Una, and merging 14 ITIs (SOA and Women) across the state for better training efficiency.
Water tariff relief was also extended for residents in newly upgraded municipal areas for three years.
