Sirmaur April 11: Under the leadership of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the state government has introduced several welfare schemes aimed at supporting economically weaker sections. One such impactful initiative is the *Mukhyamantri Kanyadaan Yojana*, which provides financial assistance of ₹51,000 to families for the marriage of their daughters.
A heartwarming example of this scheme’s impact is the story of Jeeto Devi, a resident of Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district. After losing her husband almost 30 years ago, Jeeto Devi raised four daughters and a son on limited resources, primarily dependent on a small piece of land. As her daughters reached marriageable age, arranging funds for their weddings became a major challenge.
It was during this time that she came to know about the *Mukhyamantri Kanyadaan Yojana*. She approached the office of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) in Paonta Sahib, gathered all necessary information, and submitted her application along with the required documents.
Thanks to this scheme, she received ₹51,000 each for her two daughters, enabling her to conduct their weddings without financial hardship. Jeeto Devi expressed heartfelt gratitude to CM Sukhu and the state government for this timely and generous support.
CDPO Geeta Singta informed that under this scheme, families with annual income up to ₹50,000, widows’ daughters, orphans, and girls living in shelter homes are eligible for the assistance. Applications can be submitted at CDPO offices or through Anganwadi workers.
