Fire Incident in Una: Ex-Panchayat Head Injured in Shocking Attack

Una, January 24, 2025: In a startling incident in Basoli village near Una district headquarters, a man allegedly set his neighbor’s property on fire and attacked a former panchayat head with a burning sack soaked in flammable material. Police have registered a case against the accused, Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Basoli.

The complainant, Jasveer Singh, reported the incident, stating that the fire broke out around 3 AM on Wednesday when Sukhdev Singh’s daughter informed him about flames near their house. Local residents, including former panchayat head Satnam Singh, gathered to extinguish the fire.

While attempting to douse the flames, they noticed smoke coming from Sukhdev’s room. As Satnam Singh knocked on the door, Sukhdev allegedly threw a burning sack at him, severely injuring his hands and head.

ASP Una, Surendra Sharma, confirmed the case, stating, “The former panchayat head sustained burns during the rescue. An FIR has been registered, and further investigation is underway.”
