Woman Dies During Surgery, Family Alleges Negligence by Doctors

A major uproar occurred late Tuesday night at a private hospital in Rakkar Colony near Una district headquarters after the death of Jaswinder Kaur, a Punjab resident, during surgery. The family accused a gynecologist from the Una Regional Hospital and the private hospital management of negligence.
The deceased’s husband, Mohinder Singh, revealed that he had taken his wife to the Una Regional Hospital on Monday, where a doctor diagnosed her with a fibroid in the abdomen and advised surgery the following day. However, the surgery was conducted at a private hospital on the doctor’s advice.
According to Mohinder, his wife was taken for surgery around 4 PM. Shortly after, hospital staff panicked, and no one informed the family about her condition. They were not allowed to meet her, and later, she was declared dead.
The hospital director refuted the allegations, stating that the surgery was successful, but the patient succumbed to excessive bleeding and a sudden spike in blood pressure.
Police have registered a case based on the family’s complaint against the gynecologist and other doctors involved. Jaswinder Kaur’s body has been sent to Tanda Medical College for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
