Tehri Water Sports Cup 2024: A Major Milestone in Sports Excellence and Regional Development

The highly anticipated Tehri Water Sports Cup 2024 – 3rd Edition kicked off with great enthusiasm on 10th December, 2024, at Tehri Lake, Tehri-Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Under the aegis of THDC India Limited, a Mini-Ratna PSU, the event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Smt. Rekha Arya. She emphasized the importance of sports for healthy living, youth empowerment, and tourism development in Uttarakhand. Smt. Arya also praised THDC India Limited for its continuous support in promoting sports excellence.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Hon’ble MLA Devprayag Sh. Vinod Kandari, Hon’ble MLA Pratapnagar Sh. Vikram Singh Negi, and Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman & Managing Director of THDCIL. Sh. Vishnoi expressed pride in THDCIL’s commitment to sports development and societal growth, highlighting the organization’s support for Kayaking and Canoeing athletes through its High-Performance Academy at Koteshwar, Tehri.
The championship, which is also a qualifying event for the National Games 2024, brings together over 500 athletes from 22 states. The four-day event, organized by THDC India Limited, in collaboration with the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association (IKCA), aims to position Tehri Lake as a national hub for water sports.
This event is a significant step in promoting adventure sports, enhancing tourism, and contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of Tehri-Garhwal.
