Former CM Jairam Thakur Accuses Congress Government of Corruption

1 min read

Nalagarh, 5 July 2024: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, accused the Congress government of indulging in multiple scams since coming to power. Speaking at a campaign rally for BJP candidate KL Thakur, Thakur highlighted the recent Rs 60 crore scandal in the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board, following earlier irregularities in the Marketing Board. He claimed the government has shown more interest in corruption than in public welfare, citing a fraudulent allocation of a Rs 240 crore tender, inflated from Rs 175 crore to benefit certain individuals.

Thakur criticized the Congress for misleading the public with false promises to gain power, only to deliver scams and neglect. He highlighted various failures of the government, including unmet promises to youth, farmers, and women, and inadequate response to last year’s disaster relief efforts.

Addressing rallies in Sai Chadog and Lunas, Thakur asserted that Nalagarh’s residents stand firmly with BJP’s KL Thakur, predicting significant victories for BJP in the upcoming elections. The event saw the participation of Chopal MLA and spokesperson Balbir Verma, former MLA and BJP state spokesperson Lakhvinder Rana, and other local leaders.
