Shimla, June 11: Sanjay Awasthi, the Working President of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee and Chief Parliamentary Secretary, stated that the BJP cannot escape the responsibility of forcing six and now three more assembly by-elections in the state. During a press conference today, Awasthi asserted that the BJP has insulted the people’s mandate by imposing a total of nine assembly by-elections, for which the people of the state will never forgive them. He confidently claimed that the Congress party is poised to win these three upcoming by-elections and will soon announce its candidates to enter the electoral fray.
Awasthi emphasized that the BJP will face defeat in these three by-elections as well. He accused the BJP of conspiring with independent MLAs, leading to their premature resignation. He described this situation as possibly unprecedented in the country’s history, where independent MLAs resigned from the assembly membership under such a conspiracy. According to Awasthi, these independent MLAs have now lost their standing, and it is unlikely that they will win again.
Awasthi pointed out that the people of Himachal Pradesh do not support defections or money power. The three independent MLAs, along with six Congress MLAs who colluded with the BJP against the government, are now facing the consequences of their political conspiracy. Four of these MLAs have already faced defeat, and the remaining three will also meet the same fate. He confidently declared that these former MLAs will never again cross the threshold of the assembly.
