BJP Leaders Halt Economic Aid to Himachal Pradesh: CM

2 min read

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that the current state government has provided shelter to over 25,000 affected families without assistance from the central government, while BJP leaders engaged in politics even during the calamity. He mentioned that Himachal Pradesh faced unprecedented natural disasters last year due to heavy rains, causing floods and landslides that inflicted considerable damage to lives and property.

The state government, despite limited financial resources, released a special relief package of Rs 4500 crores to aid affected families. Despite the unprecedented calamity in the state, the central government did not provide any special economic package for relief and rehabilitation of the affected families. The true colors of the BJP leaders were revealed during this disaster in Himachal Pradesh.

Instead of assisting the affected families, BJP leaders continually obstructed the financial assistance from the central government. When the state government proposed to declare Himachal Pradesh’s disaster as a national disaster in the assembly, BJP legislators talked big for three days. However, when it was time to vote in favor of the proposal, they stood in opposition. The people of Himachal Pradesh have witnessed the words and actions of BJP leaders, and they are aware of the truth.

Meanwhile, the state government increased the assistance amount for complete reconstruction of damaged homes from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 7 lakh, for partially damaged homes from Rs 6,000 to Rs 1 lakh, for shop or dhaba losses from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh, and for damage to gaushalas from Rs 3,000 to Rs 50,000.

The government is also providing monthly rental assistance of Rs 5,000 in rural areas and Rs 10,000 in urban areas to affected families. Additionally, the state government is providing affected families with ration, gas connections, free electricity and water connections at government rates, and cement at subsidized rates. The current state government is a government for the common people, with public service as its sole objective.
