Sacred Heart Convent School Celebrates India’s Cultural Diversity at Annual Function
Shimla, September 24: Sacred Heart Convent School hosted its annual function, ‘Triveni’, with grandeur and enthusiasm on Thursday, celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage through a vibrant showcase of classical dance and music.
Most Rev. Bishop Sahaya Thatheus Thomas, Bishop of the Shimla-Chandigarh Diocese, was the chief guest, while Sister Grace, Principal of the school, was also present.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the Panch Deep, followed by a prayer dance by Class IX-B and a welcome song by Classes VI-A and VI-B. A Bishop’s Welcome Dance by Class XII girls added to the opening ceremony.
The school’s annual report highlighted its achievements during the academic session. The central theme, ‘Triveni’, unfolded through performances representing various classical dance traditions of India. Students presented Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Tandav, Manipuri, Mohiniyattam, Kathakali, Sattriya, Odissi and Chhau, reflecting the country’s cultural diversity and unity.
An English song and play by Class XI students were also presented, while Class XII boys performed ‘Motherland’, paying tribute to the nation’s cultural identity.
Bishop Thomas addressed the gathering with words of wisdom following his felicitation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the School Anthem. The celebration showcased the students’ creativity, discipline and appreciation of India’s diverse artistic traditions.
