National-Level IP Trip Program Organized in Shimla by PHDCCI

Shimla, March 22, 2024: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) organized a two-day National-Level IP Trip Program in Shimla, commencing today. On this occasion, Mr. Atish Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, lauded the efforts of the PHD Chamber in organizing this event in the state of Himachal Pradesh. During his address, he emphasized the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the state and highlighted the importance of identifying and protecting more GI-tagged traditional products of Himachal Pradesh. He encouraged businesses to register under GI to enhance their competitive edge in both domestic and export markets.

Participating in the program, Mr. A.K. Gautam, Additional Director, MSME-DFIO, Solan, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, acknowledged the role of MSME-DFIO in promoting the growth and development of MSMEs, for which the government is providing necessary support and assistance in Himachal Pradesh. He provided insights into various schemes of the ministry including MSME support, MSME innovative schemes, and technological upgradation facilities available through Technology Transfer Centers (TTCs) and various replenishment schemes of the ministry. He also urged MSMEs to avail benefits from upcoming IP Facilitation Centers (IPFCs).

Dr. H.P. Kumar, Former CMD of NSIC and Advisor to PHDCCI IPF, highlighted the role of innovation in providing a competitive edge among entrepreneurs in his thematic address. He emphasized that innovation is key to the existence and success of any industry, and it is essential to protect these innovations by filing relevant IPs.

Narendra Bharadwaj, President of the Himachal Pradesh State Chapter of PHDCCI, shed light on the importance of intellectual property for MSMEs and startups. He highlighted the significance of creating awareness among MSMEs about the various schemes of the ministry and stated that the world is watching India as it is the fastest-growing economy.
