Action Taken by Pollution Control Board

In Manali, a private hotel’s 14 rooms have been sealed by the Pollution Control Board because they were being used as hotel rooms without obtaining the necessary permissions. The sealed rooms will only be allowed to reopen once the formalities and approvals are completed, including obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the concerned authorities.

For constructing hotels, it is essential to obtain approvals from various departments, including the Town and Country Planning Department, in addition to the Pollution Control Board. However, in this case, the operator of the hotel in Manali did not seek permission for these 14 rooms.

The action to seal these rooms was taken on Monday by the Pollution Control Board. Sunil Sharma, the regional officer of the Pollution Control Board, confirmed this action. He stated that although the hotel had obtained NOCs from all relevant departments, including the Town and Country Planning Department, it had not obtained permission for these specific 14 rooms, which were being used without authorization.

Meanwhile, in Manali, a joint team of the Revenue and Forest Departments removed an unauthorized encroachment from government land. A hotel had encroached upon government land, and the Tehsildar had issued orders to remove the encroachment. Following this, the joint team took action on Monday to remove the encroachment, including stairs and a tank that had been built on government land.

This action highlights the importance of adhering to proper permissions and regulations when constructing and operating hotels, especially in ecologically sensitive areas like Manali. Violations can result in legal actions and the closure of unauthorized parts of the establishment until necessary approvals are obtained.
